The ex-1971 London Motor Show Car, Ferrari Daytona chassis number '14513' has been preserved in outstandingly original condition, enjoying just two private owners and covering a mere 2,800-or-so miles from new, the greater majority prior to its acquisition in 1978 by the second private owner. A Ferrari enthusiast, the latter purchased two Daytonas at around that time, using one regularly while preserving the other, the car offered here. After appearing on Maranello Concessionaires' stand at Earls Court, '14513' was sold via a garage in Yorkshire to its first owner, a Mr Headlam, who kept the car until it was sold to West Kent Motor Company (Kent Performance Cars) and then via (now-defunct) D.C.M. to the second private owner in 1978. A righthand-drive model equipped from new with the highly desirable option of air conditioning, the car is most handsomely finished in Dino Blue metallic with faultless beige leather upholstery to the interior. The epithet 'time warp' does scant justice to this almost certainly unique Daytona, which retains its toolkit - complete and unused, its original tyres with factory balance markings, pristine Campagnolo alloy wheels and untouched spare; even the clock's setting instructions tag is still attached! The mint owner's wallet contains the original instruction book, list of Ferrari service agents, spare parts catalogue revision and yellow duster, while the warranty card even has the three free service vouchers still in place. The car's accompanying history file contains the original delivery note recording its destination as the London Motor Show, as well as D.C.M.'s advertisement and 1978 sales invoice to the second owner recording the mileage at that time as 2,500. There are also two expired MoTs on file - one dated 1976 at 1,890 miles and one dated 1979 at 2,428 miles - as well as intriguing correspondence (dated November 1989) between the second owner and Maranello Concessionaires recording negotiations for the latter's proposed re-purchase of the vehicle. While in the second owner's possession '14513' has been kept in professional storage at a Ferrari agency, where it has been started regularly and maintained in good order. The car has recently been gently re-commissioned, the only items appearing to require attention being the front brake hoses and carburettor gaskets, which have been replaced. The vendor reports that it drives as superbly as one would expect a brand new Ferrari to do. A current MoT and Swansea V5 accompany this car, which must be one of, if not the, most original Daytona still existing.
