The Egypt campaign group of five awarded to Troop Corporal Major Henry Hole, 1st Life Guards, later a Yeoman of the Guard Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, Tel-El-Kebir (396. Tp: Corpl. Maj: H. Hole. 1st Life Gds.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (396. Tp: Corpl. Maj: H. Hole. 1st Life Gds.); Coronation 1902, bronze; Coronation 1911; Khedive's Star 1882 (CM H Hole 1st LG), together with a Tournament of the British Army, silver prize medal (For Double Ride awarded to Corpl. Major H. Hole 1st Life Gds. 1882’, the first with pitting from star, good fine, otherwise very fine (6) £600-£700 Footnote Henry Hole was born in the Parish of Chudleigh, Devon, and enlisted into the 1st Life Guards at Regent’s Park, London, on 14 March 1866, aged 18, a farmer by trade. He was promoted to Corporal of Horse on 14 April 1874, and to Troop Corporal Major on 5 May 1880. He reverted briefly to Corporal of Horse on 1 June 1880 but was promoted once more to Troop Corporal Major on 20 June 1882. He served in the Egyptian campaign of 1882 and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with clasp and Bronze Star). His Egypt medal was presented to him by the Queen at Windsor Castle on 21 December 1882. He was discharged to pension on 17 December 1890, and was appointed a Yeoman of the Guard on 25 February 1898. He died on 21 December 1916. Sold with copied discharge papers and other research.
