(18¼x12½"). Of note, on page 1 it reads "Golfing at St Andrews. The Silver Club is to be played for over the Links of St Andrew's, upon Wednesday the 5th day of October next. The original 22 members of the St. Andrews society "marked their foundation by playing for a silver club bearing the cross of St Andrew over a course of 22 holes - 11 out, and the same 11 back. The rules - 13 of them - were borrowed from the Honourable Company with one minor change... It is also on record that the society held its annual ball in the Tolbooth, or town hall, which stood in Market Street between Logies Lane and Muttoes Lane." - Jarret, St Andrews Golf Links: The First 600 Years, pg. 17. A very early reference to St. Andres golf. Lot Amendments Condition: A few tiny spots on page 1; else near fine. Item number: 214124
