Title: The Book of Jack London Author: London, Charmian Place: New York Publisher: Century Date: 1921 Description: 2 vols. Illustrated with photo plates. Green cloth, spines lettered in gilt. First American Edition. Both volumes inscribed and signed by Charmian London to Cornelia Stanwood on the front free endpapers; Mrs. Stanwood was Principal of Sarah Dix Hamlin School in San Francisco. In the second inscription Charmian notes that the volume "is somewhat autobiographical I fear - but it could not be otherwise in the writing of those last twelve years. Yours ever, Charmian. 1940." Woodbridge remarks that "these two volumes contain offer 250 letters, telegrams and inscriptions by Jack London to various correspondents, some complete and some excerpted. The majority are first printings...." Woodbridge 1180 Lot Amendments Condition: An ex-library copy with call numbers in white on spine of Volume 1, call numbers erased from spine of volume 2, light edge wear; else very good.
