The BMW 3 Series has been manufactured since May 1975 and has been produced in five different generations, in no less than five different body styles. It is BMW's best-selling model, accounting for around 30% of the BMW brand's annual total sales (excluding motorbikes). The four-door 3 Series (E36) was produced from early 1990, initially for sale in Europe only, and was introduced to other worldwide markets later. The Coupé was produced from 1991, with the Cabriolet version following a year later. The three-door hatchback 'Compact' was introduced in 1994 and was moderately popular in Europe. 'Compact' was identical to the regular E36 saloon from front bumper to A-Pillar; everything else was unique, namely its rear semi-trailing arm suspension, based on the old E30, instead of the Z-Axle Multilink employed in all other E36's. BMW developed several prototype five-door versions of the 'Compact' model, but these never entered production. This BMW 328i Coupé was first registered on 22 nd November 1996 and has subsequently had three owners from new. Clearly a much loved example, the specification of this car is outstanding-being equipped with; automatic transmission, electric front seats, electric lumbar support, 'lux pack', cruise control, reverse sensors and air conditioning.
