Khortik's design for a vibrant young girl selling apples in a street market is very rare and appears only rarely on the market. It can be seen in a 1936 photo of the factory museum reproduced in T.N. Nosovich and I.P. Popova, Gosudarstvennyi farforovyi zavod, 1904-1944, St Petersburg, 2005, p. 631. We are grateful to Nataliya Petrova of the Lomonosov Museum of Porcelain for assistance in cataloging this lot.
