(Pages 164-5 with underlinings, some occasional light marginal soiling.) Original pictorial printed yellow wrappers (some mostly minor soiling, a few small repairs to spines, a few small chips); morocco slipcase. Provenance: Seth Sprague and Ward E. Terry (bookplate; their sale American Art/Anderson Galleries, 4 December 1935, lot 415); Frank J. Hogan (bookplate; his sale Parke-Bernet, 24 April 1945, lot 736); H. Bradley Martin (bookplate; his sale Sotheby's New York, 1 May 1990, lot 3268). THE TERRY-HOGAN-MARTIN COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION IN ORIGINAL MONTHLY PARTS, with the following issue points: text as per Randall except for the following: p.29 has 20 lines; p.129 last line reads "said"; p.295, line 7 reads "worldly"; p.406 is numbered; p. 434 last line reads "gaunt's tired of"; p. 587 line 4 reads "at his lordship's sode." The printed title reads "With Illustrations on Steel and wood by the Author." The imprint on the verso of the title reads "London: Bradbury and Evas, Printers, Whitefriers" and the second line in the dedication is set in small type with the line measuring 2 1/8 inches. The rustic heading on p.[1] is lightly shaded. With all advertisements as recorded by Van Duzer and Randall with some variation in capitalization and punctuation; pp. 1 and 3 of the William S. Orr and Co. advertisements in part 1 and p.4 of advertisements of part 17 are unnumbered. Wrappers as per Randall and Van Duzer, the last four lines with dates on upper wrappers.
