FIRST EDITION of this rare amendment to the Treaty of 1828 establishing commissioners to survey the headwaters of the Arkansas and Red Rivers and fix the boundaries of the U.S. and Mexico. Though the U.S. had long since agreed to the boundaries, they had delayed the survey in hopes of extending the Louisiana boundary to the Nueces, thereby including Texas. The survey was completed, but the day after the U.S. ratified it, the battle of San Jacinto invalidated the boundaries agreed upon. Streeter Texas 1257A (2 copies).
