Provenance : Moncure Biddle (armorial bookplate). FIRST EDITION, early issue with pre-publication watermarks. A fine visual record of the scenery of the island and the military and naval operation which led to the British seizing the island from the French. General Sir John Abercromby (1772-1817) landed on 29 November 1810 with a force of over 11,000 men, and after 'a smart action, which showed the French general that resistance was impossible... on 2 Dec.
