TAYLOR FROM THE SUPERB 1935 VINTAGE Lying in Gloucestershire at Christie's (Octavian) Taylor--Vintage 1935 Embossed metal capsule. Vintage engraved on bottle. Also engraved "Bottled Coronation year 1937". Good appearance. Levels: three base of neck, one top-shoulder Outstandingly the best 1935 and one of the greatest ports of this century. Tasted (and drunk) on 27 occasions since 1953....Three very recent notes: despite a rather smelly cork that broke, a superb wine, powerful, amazing length and flavour, at a dinner party at home June 2000. Another glorious bottle, losing depth of colour; nose slightly smoky, Spanish root; great length and residual power- dining in the Dairy, Waddesdon Manor, and, with classic bouquet, drying out a little but with inimitable Taylor backbone.
