T.H. White, The Elephant and the Kangaroo, first edition, annotated and inscribed by the author [London, Jonathan Cape, 1948] complete, author's name struck through on title and replaced by a signature in the author's hand, front free endpaper bearing original illustrations of an elephant and a kangaroo with the inscription Drawn by the world famous author for LOUISE 22.1.60 in the author's hand, some faint scattered foxing, original decorated cloth, upper edges a little faded and foxed, original dust-jacket, head of spine with some loss, extremities rather rubbed, outer edge of upper cover torn, 8vo; together with an original illustration by the author entitled mummy framed and glazed Provenance: Consigned by Louise whose family housed the author during the Second World War. The inscription is dedicated to her and the illustration of her mother was an additional gift to her.
