Mears, 1718. 3 volumes, 8 o (192 x 117 mm). Engraved frontispiece, titles printed in red and black, 54 engraved plates and plans by Sutton Nichols and M. vander Gucht (18 folding), woodcut ornaments. (Some marginal worming, a few marginal repairs, some browning or staining.) Later sprinkled calf, spines gilt in 6 compartments with 5 raised bands (rubbed). Provenance : unidentified armorial bookplate in volume 2. FIRST EDITION, second issue of one volume. In 1715, Switzer published The Nobleman, Gentleman, and Gardener's Recreation , a work which Hunt notes is "essentially the same as Vol.I of Ichnographia Rustica ." Three years later, it was reissued with two additional volumes as the Ichnographia Rustica .
