[London: 1865]. 2° leaf (327 x 202 mm), with lithographic facsimile of Swinburne's sonnet on recto, [?]proof impression lacking the word 'ungrown' in penultimate line (slightly soiled), blue cloth case. Provenance : F.A. Sandys (inscribed at head 'This lithographed copy of a poem by Swinburne was found amongst the papers of F.A. Sandys'). ONE OF VERY FEW SURVIVING COPIES. This sonnet was written by Swinburne to accompany F. Sandys' painting, Gentle Spring , exhibited in the Royal Academy of Arts Exhibition, 1865. Not in the Ashley Catalogue. SWINBURNE, A.C. Siena . COPYRIGHT EDITION, LIMITED TO 6 COPIES, distinguishable from the Wise forgery by the full point after 'Piccadilly' on title. This poem appeared in Lippincott's Magazine (New York, June 1868, pp. 622-629).
