SUMERIAN GOLD NECKLACE AND RING SET Circa 2nd millennium BC. A necklace formed from 24 flat discoid beads in grey-tan sedimentary stone, with nine interstitial gold elements formed from a cylinder with wire double coils on each side; offered with a gold ring formed as an open (clasped) expanding hoop with filigree and granulation detail, with a tubular collar supporting a double-coil wire similar to those on the necklace. Gold, ring: 2.08 grams, 23.76 mm; necklace: 29 grams, 44 cm approximate overall length. Very fine condition, complete; the necklace with modern string and clasp. Very rare.
