"My dear father Sorry to hear so poor an account of you. You must brace up a little in the winds eye, as I am engaged in doing. I am not yet out of bed, but though I am rather disjuskit, I have no very bad symptoms. It was a very fierce cold, stole upon me slowly, and I suppose it means to be as slow in going. The only thing you can do for me, is to be in better spirits and let me hear so. ever your afft. son R.L.S." As a postscript he writes "No extra charge for correct date."
