This is the second most recognized image of Buzz Aldrin on the lunar surface as he stands by the U.S. flag. In a haste to release the lunar surface images taken by the Apollo 11 crew, NASA mistakenly identified the astronaut next to the flag as Neil Armstrong, as written on the verso of this photograph. There was only one 70mm Hasselblad camera taken out on the lunar surface during the first moonwalk. Armstrong and Aldrin shared its use, but Armstrong photographed the vast majority of the surface images.
