Provenance: Acquired on 16 July 1975 from Humala Pontas c/o Djuara Limited, Jakarta. Suparto was born in Yogyakarta in 1924. During the Japan Occupation he studied at Keimin Bunka Shidosho in Bandung, as a a painter as well as sculptor. After World War II he participated to many collective as solo exhibitions, obtaining public and critic success. In 1971, he won the Anugerah Seni award from Pemerintah republik Indonesia (Government of Indonesian Republic).
