CIRCA AH 990/1582-83 AD): KITAB IBTIHAJ AL-INSAN WA'L-ZAMAN FI'L-IHSAN AL-WASIL LIL-HARAMAYN MIN AL-YAMAN BI-MAWLANA AL-'ADIL BASHA HASAN PROBABLY OTTOMAN EGYPT, LATE 16TH/EARLY 17TH CENTURY On the history of Mecca and Medina, Arabic manuscript on paper, 31ff. plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 15ll. of black naskh , text panels outlined in gold, catchwords, important words and titles in sepia and gold, opening folio with illuminated shamsa containing the name of the author in red thuluth on gold ground, surmounted by two further lines of thuluth in gold above and below with the name and descriptions of the manuscript, subsequent page with later added illuminated heading, in gilt and stamped brown morocco binding Text panel 6½ x 4in.
