SOMERSET, FITZROY: (1788-1855) - 1st Baron Raglan - (British Field Marshal, commanded the British troops during the Crimean War. Raglan gave the order which led to the Charge of the Light Brigade.) A handwritten letter from Raglan to Westmorland discuss the awarding of a medal to Baron Perponcher. Signed ' Fitzroy Somerset '. Dated May 31st 1856. Supplied with a period handwritten copy of the letter sent to Count Perponcher by Lord Westmorland. Supplied with a typed translation (see final photos). Somerset was part of Wellington's staff at Waterloo, and Perponcher a key figure in the battle.
