Title: Small group of works comprised of sheet music, a menu, disbound chromolithographed children's book from the 1880s, and more, all pertaining to African Americans Author: Place: Publisher: Date: 1880s-1965 Description: 9 items, including: Black and white photograph postcard, captioned vertically on left margin "Whipping Post, Dover Del. 3662." The photograph is of a Black man being whipped. Postally used with stamp, message/address in pencil, and rubberstamp dated 1913. c.1912. Disbound chromolithograph pages from an edition of "Ten Little Niggers". No wrappers present, uncertain which edition, but c.1880s. Some chips and tears to edges of disbound leaves. Creole Palace: Harlem of the West. Menu. This establishment was located on Second & Market Street in San Diego, California, G.A. Ramsey was the proprietor (his photograph on the Art Deco front cover of the menu). Wrappers + 1 leaf, printed front and back with menu. Advertisements on rear cover. A bit soiled. Sweet Mamma Let me Call. Words and Music by Leo J. Bonenberger. Sheet music. 6 pp. (including covers). Front cover illustrated with a racist depiction of a Black man. Published by B and B Publishing Co., West Virginia. 1940. With a few personal rubberstamps on front cover and margins. Billy Dee Williams as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I Have a Dream. Program for the theatre production of "I Have a Dream" 1976 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Social Change. Playboy. 1 issue of the men's magazine, from January, 1965. Containing an interview with Martin Luther King, Jr. Uncle Tom's Cabin. Cloth-backed boards. Illustrated. Thomas Nelson and Sons, [1930s]. Aframerican Woman's Journal.
