Beschreibung:

Six-piece Jean Puiforcat .950 Silver Tea and Coffee Service, Paris, c. 1925, each with squat, concave-paneled bodies with delicate floral and scroll motifs to the handles and spouts, kettle-on-stand with a burner, teapot, coffeepot, covered sugar, and waste bowl, kettle-on-stand ht. 9 3/4 in., approx. 128.3 troy oz., together with a silver-plated tray. N.B. A copy of the original 1928 receipt from Puiforcat accompanies the lot. Jean-Emile Puiforcat (1897-1945) was a French silversmith, designer and sculptor. After serving in World War I, he joined the family firm of silversmiths, and began working independently after 1922. He was a prolific exhibitor, known for his simple geometric forms offset by materials like hardstone and ivory.
