He was appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Music, professor at Trinity College of Music and undertook several advisory roles for film including coaching Hugh Grant for his role as Chopin in Impromptu (1991). He assembled a significant collection of modern art, including lots 12, 15, 17 and 91.
