Beschreibung:

Sir Frank Brangwyn (1867-1956) Three Studies for The British Empire Panels, ca.1925 Three vintage gelatin silver prints squared in pencil for transfer, file numbers stamped on versos16.5 x 11.5cm (6_ x 4_in) Literature: Libby Horner and others, Frank Brangwyn 1867-1956, Leeds Museums & Galleries, 2006; Paul Cava Fine Art, Frank Brangwyn Photographs, Nude and Figure Studies, 2001, illustrating others from the series. These photographs, probably unique, are studies for figures in Brangwyn’s British Empire Panels, a set of murals originally intended for the House of Lords and now in the Guildhall, Swansea. “Surprisingly, some of the most exquisite photographs Brangwyn took are of nude or partially dressed women, revealing a frisson of sensuality which is entirely lost in the completed oils and murals.” Libby Horner.
