Colmar, 1684-83. 3 parts in one volume, 2 o (372 x 239 mm). 22 engraved illustrations on 20 plates, engraved additional portrait and one additional plate of arms (some light browning and staining). Contemporary calf (joints cracked). Provenance : Mueller (ownership inscription on title); early ink duplicate stamp (on title); Friedlaender & Sohn, Berlin (ink stamp on paste-down). FIRST EDITION of this interesting 17th-century work on Scottish natural history. Sibbald instituted with Andrew Balfour the Botanical Garden at Edinburgh in 1667 and the above work contains an extensive catalogue of the plants grown in the garden. Nissen ZBI 3847; Wing S-3727 and S-3724.
