The Shofar and the beret were used by Etzel fighter Israel Hadany (Klein), in 1941 as described in the book "Shofarot shel Mered" (Ze'ev Golan, Jabotinsky Institute, 2007), (p.33, 106-107). Hadany blew the Shofar at the Western Wall as part of a protest, where “Teki’a Gedolah” was blown when Yom Kippur ended. The protest was held against the British mandate which forbade public religious rituals by the Western Wall. The blowers and their assistants, Beitar and Etzel members, smuggled shofarot in an operation know as “Hakir” (the wall). The operation was held in order to mock the prestige of the British mandate and to strengthen the national pride. Shofar: 21 cm, pin: 1 cm. Good condition.
