AH 691/1292-93 AD): BUSTAN (ABRIDGED VERSION) SIGNED MUHAMMAD QASIM BIN SHADISHAH, SAFAVID IRAN, SECOND QUARTER 16TH CENTURY Poetry, Persian manuscript on paper, 27ff. plus 2 fly-leaves, each folio with 11ll. of elegant black nasta'liq in clouds reserved against gold hatched ground with red and blue spots, arranged in two columns with double gold intercolumnar rules, headings in white nasta'liq on gold ground cartouches within gold and polychrome floral panels, text panels laid down between polychrome rules on wide borders with elaborate gold floral illumination, opening folio with gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece and marginal cartouche with the name of Fath 'Ali Shah Qajar, the preceeding folio with similarly illuminated shamsa , colophon signed, later owner's notes and seals, with six inserted miniatures, three at the beginning and three at the end of the manuscript, in brown morocco with gold stamped medallion and spandrels, marbled paper doublures Text panel 4¾ x 2½in.
