Contemporary sprinkled calf, spines ruled in gilt, red morocco lettering pieces, double gilt fillet round sides (a few volumes very lightly rubbed. Provenance : John Pollexfen Bastard (1756-1816), notable Devon parliamentarian (armorial bookplate). FIRST EDITION OF JOHNSON'S RECENSION. Courtney and Nicol Smith 107; Chapman and Hazen pp.146-147.
