Contemporary red morocco gilt for Bumpus, covers with floral border and heart tool at inner corners, gilt turn-ins ((some darkening to edges of covers, rebacked preserving original gilt spine, corners rubbed). Provenance : Duff Cooper, first Viscount Norwich (1890-1954, bookplate by Rex Whistler).

The inserted slip in pencil, listing 26 sonnets 'known by heart' may be in his hand; the corresponding sonnets are pencilled with a cross.
