Serial no. 23395. 20 gauge. Two pairs of 28 inch barrels. Concave smooth ribs marked, J.Purdey & Sons, Audley House, South Audley Street, London. Made of Sir Joseph Whitworth's Fluid Pressed Steel. One pair marked Full Choke on bottom lump, the other marked R. Tight Cyl., L. Mod. Choke. Barrels numbered 57726/7 and 57728/9. Rear section of lower rib marked Made in England. Casehardened self-opening bar-action sidelock action engraved with Purdey's standard fine rose and scroll. Cocking indicators. Disc-set strikers. Automatic safety. Finely checkered straight-grip stock of contrasting figured walnut. Drop points. One-inch leather covered recoil pad over a 1/4 inch ebonite spacer. Finely checkered splinter fore-end with Anson release. Oak and leather trunk case with brass corners and hardware. Maroon interior with accessories: Disc spanner, 2 turn screws, Rosewood cleaning rod with later shaft, Leatherette pouch with bristle cleaners, Leather pouch with pull-through and miscellaneous cleaning attachments, nickel plated square oil bottle marked with maker's name, and bone striker box with gold-plated strikers and springs. Black leather maker's label. Charge card numbered to the gun. Condition: Excellent, as partially redone. Action shows 85-90% case colors. Exposed fore-end iron shows 60% case colors. Fore-end tip shows silver patina. Triggerguard shows 96-98% bluing. Barrels show 99% re-blued finish. Barrels no. 57726/7 show traces of a repaired dent on left barrel. Marks on edge of rib. Slight marks on side of left barrel. Bright bores. Barrels no. 57728/9 shows slight scratches on side of left barrel. Light marks on side of right barrel. Slight marks on edge of rib. Bright bores. Stock shows minor nicks and scratches. Fore-end shows a bruise on left side and some nicks. Case in fine condition with nicks and scratches. Scuffing to the edges in places. Interior in excellent condition with some slight areas of impressions and losses. Data: Barrel Dimensions: Barrel numbers 57726/7: Bore: 0.617/0.617 inches.
