The most successful manned rockets ever built, the Saturn I , IB , and V served the flight period from 1961 to 1975 with no launch failures. This book is an extensive history account covering concepts, development programs, and engine designs. Initial tests began in the late 1950s with the last test flight for the Saturn V , designated Apollo 6 during April 1968. Manned flights followed for the Saturn IB and V , starting in late 1968. The Saturn V was required to make all lunar voyages, being nine total, of which six made landings, with the final landing during December 1972. The last Saturn V carried the unmanned Skylab space station into Earth orbit in 1973. A modified third stage was outfitted to be the space station.
