On all lots we charge 15 % of the hammer price. more information Note Saab 900 was manufactured throughout three decades - its production run started in 1978 and finished in 1998. Two generations of this car can be distinguished - the first one was based on the 99 model and was available as a two- and four-door sedan, as well as a three- and five-door hatchback variant. The modernised hatchback-only version with more streamlined shapes and unofficial "NG" moniker appeared on the market in 1993 as a result of collaboration between Saab and General Motors, which took ownership of the Swedish car manufacturer. The first edition of the 900 was also nicknamed "Crocodile", thanks to its characteristic, edgy body lines. Apart from that, it was one of the first mass-produced turbocharged cars. Even if BMW and Porsche were released earlier, Saab beat them all with sheer production scale and market availability. The 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show saw the première of a convertible prototype, which was officially included in Saab’s offer just two years later. It was powered by a 2-litre turbocharged engine generating 175 horsepower. The first 400 cars were sold in 1986 on the US market, and they were sold in a blink of an eye - the customers across the ocean loved exotic cars from Europe. The cars from this production run are particularly sought after due to the fact that they were made before a facelift in 1987 and they have a wider front, often referred to as a flat nose. The subsequent editions enjoyed unwavering popularity, leading the Saab 900 to become a fashionable car, often chosen by buyers with unconventional tastes. The Crocodile was also promoted with a catchy slogan: "Durable as a Mercedes, safe as a Volvo and much cooler than a BMW." The presented Saab 900 Turbo was manufactured in late 1986, but it already has the new front version. It was bought in October 2016 in Florida, but the American title indicates that the car was used previously in Washington. After being imported to Poland, the body was repainted, as the original paintwork has lost its shine. During the disassembly before painting, the windshield was damaged and replaced with a new part. Other than that, the Saab is in perfect visual and technical condition. Both the interior and the convertible roof are original parts, which is quite impressive, given the age of the car. The vehicle was examined by an expert and included on the list of historic cars, which confirms its authenticity and value as a collectible. Despite that, it can be also used on a daily basis, as driving it is a pure pleasure - especially since its original and unique style will let you stand out on the road.
