Beschreibung:

A Russian Imperial aquamarine and diamond pendant, of teardropped form, top set with rose-, single- and old-cut diamonds in scrolling foliage, mounted in 14k gold and silver with a hook, under which a facet-cut aquamarine drop. Apparently unmarked. Russian jeweller, last quarter of the 19th century. H. 4.5 cm. The pendant has probably been used for an associated brooch and could also be used as a pendant in a pearl necklace. Literature: Geoffrey Munn and Katherine Purcell, “Fabergé and the Russian Jewellers”, (Wartski, London 2006), similar piece as detachable pendant on a brooch reproduced p. 67 (no. 198) and mentioned p. 74 (no. 198). Provenance: Formerly in the collection of Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna of Russia (1860–1922), who was a cousin to Tsar Alexander III of Russia, married to Tsaritsa Maria Feodorovna. She was the mother of Grand Duke Frederick Francis III of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Crown Princess Cecilie of Germany and Queen Alexandrine of Denmark.
