Beschreibung:

309, [1] pp. Foreword by Bernard Darwin. Illustrated with numerous plates from photographs, including a frontispiece of the club house, and a folding plan of the course. (9½x6"), rebound in modern green cloth with original gilt-stamped cloth "Far and Sure" emblem of the Royal Liverpool Golf Club laid down. First Edition. The Royal Liverpool is England's third oldest golf club. Some of its fame rests on its famous ground-breaking events: the first Amateur, the first English Amateur, first international match, first use of the Haskell ball in an Open, and home to Hilton and Ball. In 1930, Bobby Jones won the British Open title as part of his "Grand Slam" and, for the first time, overseas radio broadcast coverage was provided directly from the site. "A fine history of one of the most famous clubs." Donovan & Murdoch 16320; Murdoch 242. Provenance: from the collection of Oliver "Bud" Thompson.
