Full red morocco with arms of Mme de Montesson on front and rear covers withing French fillets, fleuron cornerpieces (repeated on smooth spine), brown morocco lettering piece, gilt dentelles, plain endpapers, edges gilt; a few old, light scratches. Morocco library tickets of Robert Hoe and Mortimer L. Schiff. Charlotte-Jeanne Béraud de la Haye de Riou was the mistress and eventually the wife of Louis Philippe, Duc d'Orléans, brother of Louis XV. Because of her low rank, the king refused her the title of Duchesse.— (Louis Philippe, Duc d'Orléans). Etienne Lescuyer de la Jonchère. Nouvelle méthode de fortifier les plus grandes villes.
