Davidge Esq, Little Houghton House, Northampton'; together with an early 20th century bowler hat, boxed, by Walter Barnard & Son, 97 Jermyn Street. Christopher Guy Vere Davidge (1929-2014) attended Eton College prior to Trinity College, Oxford. His rowing prowess saw him represent Great Britain at three Olympic Games in 1952, 1956, and 1960. He also represented Britain at various Commonwealth and European Championships. Each year Eton College celebrates the birthday of King George III by hosting 'The Procession of the Boats' known as 'The Fourth of June'. The procession includes three "upper" boats including the Victory - an 8-man boat. Raising their straw boaters, each member of the crew faces Windsor Castle and cheers for the Queen and in memory of George III, whilst holding their oars vertical.
