Roosevelt writes this letter to Edward Filene of the Filene’s department store chain who championed worker’s rights and the expansion of credit unions in the early part of the 20th century. In part: “I am delighted to see that interesting report by Mr. Nowinski. I think it is over optimistic but there is no doubt about the result, provided we put forth every effort during the next three months.”
