ROMEYN DE HOOGHE (ca 1645-1708). Carte Nouvelle De La Mer Mediterranee ou sont Exactement Remarques tous les Ports, Golfes, Rochers, Banks, de Sable &c ... Amerterdam: Pierre Mortier, ca 1694. Engraved sea chart of the Mediterranean Sea and surrounding cost line, colored by hand and HEIGHTENED IN GOLD on three sheets, joined overall image 600 x 1420 mm, with 38 insets of the major ports and cities of the Mediterranean (very light mostly marginal browning). Framed (not examined out of frame). One of the most elaborate maps from the Neptune François which "was the most expensive sea-atlas ever published in Amsterdam in the 17th century. Its charts are larger and more lavishly decorated than those of any preceding book of its kind..." (Koeman M. Mor. 7).
