Beschreibung:

A gentleman's wristwatch of steel. Model Daytona, ref. 6239 ''Paul Newman''. Mechanical chronograph movement with manual winding, cal. 722–1. Black dial with white sub-dials, steel hour markers and hands. Rolex bracelet of steel with folding clasp. Circumference 22 cm. Watch diameter 36 mm. 1966. Among all of the remarkable watches that Rolex has ever produced, possibly no other timepiece is more celebrated by collectors than the Paul Newman Daytona reference 6239. This reference was in fact the first Paul Newman Daytona produced in 1963. It featured pump chronograph pushers, steel bezel and a Valjoux 722 calibre within. This reference also marked the first time that the tachymetre scale was engraved on the bezel, rather than printed upon the surface of the dial. Interestingly enough, the traditional Daytona dials were far more popular than the funky, exotic and multi-coloured Paul Newman dials when they initially were produced. This example is in wonderful condition, with all original parts and lightly polished case, coming from the original owner based in Denmark. The Paul Newman Daytona is desirable for many reasons, but the proportions and playfulness of the dial are spectacular, and so very un-Rolex. Middle case no. 6239. Case back no. 6239. Serial no. 1875XXX. End link no. 271. Bracelet no. 7835/19.
Payment is possible only by credit card in the salesroom or by bank transfer. All wristwatches up for auction were in working condition at the time of their consignment and inspection, but they have not been tested over a longer period of time. Since the wristwatches are in a used condition, no warranty is provided for their functionality or of the originality of any replaced parts in the wristwatches, such as the dial, hands, bezel, mechanical parts etc. If a recent service history does not appear in the description of the individual wristwatch, we recommend the buyer have the watch serviced.
