This small Constructivist placard is a typical example of Mayakovsky and Rodchenko's agitational propaganda. Rodchenko’s pictures of laborers and industry reinforce the poet’s exhortation to action. Rodchenko recalled, "Our trademark was: 'Advertising--Constructor MAYAKOVSKY — RODCHENKO.' We worked with great enthusiasm." Mayakovsky wrote his verses on the piano in the evening while Rodchenko worked with two students from VKhUTEMAS, painting all night. Their joint efforts had enormous impact on commercial advertising around the world.
