Chappell. Unlike Th' Avenue, which was created specifically for a satirical tale, this drawing, in reduced styling, served as one of several designs for the artist's reverse paintings on glass known as "Hogarth mirrors": used as headings for elongated, vertical mirrors, framed by artist Max Kuehne We wish to thank Scott R. Ferris for his kind assistance with cataloguing the lot.
