Robertson's balloon was to be 150 feet in diameter, which would sustain a ship able accomodate 60 people traveling onboard for several months making scientific observations. "La Minerve" was designed to include a small boat for emergencies, a large store for provisions, ladders of silk to allow passengers to get to all parts of the balloon, a gymnasium, a theatre and music room, a kitchen, an observatory, and several other effects necessary for the pleasure and convenience of the passengers.
