Caren Collection(RMS TITANIC)Newsboy's Banner regarding Survivors of the Titanic, promoting the 19 April 1912 issue of the New Bedford, Massachusetts, Standard Broadside advertising banner (19 7/8 x 14 1/8 in.; 505 x 358 mm); browned, brittle, fold separations, chipped with some marginal loss and loss at central intersecting folds costing part of one letter. The consignor has independently obtained a letter of authenticity from PSA that will accompany the lot. "Survivors Stories of the Titanic." The sinking of RMS Titanic in the early hours of 15 April 1912 was one of the first global news stories and dominated newspaper coverage for several weeks after. Interest in the survivors of the tragedy—fewer than a third of the 2,224 persons onboard—was especially keen, as evidenced by this banner, which would have been carried by a newsboy or stood at a newsstand in the port city of New Bedford. Due to the ephemeral nature of newsboy posters, this is a very rare survival.Condition ReportCondition as described in catalogue entry. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale.
