George Richardson (1736-1817) began his architectural career working for John Adam in Edinburgh. Having accompanied Adam on his Grand Tour from 1760 to 1763 he worked in the Adams Brothers London office, and then set up his own architectural business in 1765, specialising in the decoration of apartments in the neo-classical style. The best examples of his work are the interiors at Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire.
