A collection of Ornaments in the Antique Style, Comprised in XXXVII Plates Designed & Engraved by G. Richardson.
London: G. Richardson, Arch & Son, 1816. 4to (370 x 280 mm). Aquatint title and 36 aquatint plates of ornamental plasterwork and friezes. Modern half calf over marbled boards, calf lettering label on upper cover. Condition : light discoloration to title, occasional soiling. Richardson, started his career working for John Adam in Edinburgh. He accompanied James Adam on his Grand Tour 1760-1763, and worked in the London office of the firm. In 1765 he set up his own architectural design business using books such as this to generate business and commisions. He worked at many important country houses in England including Kedleston, and developed a sound business.
