REVOLUTIONARY WAR]. [SOUTH CAROLINA CAMPAIGN]. FIELD, James. Lt., Continental Army . Manuscript document signed ("James Field"), n.d. 1½ pages, slight wear along edges . A deposition defending himself, and fellow officer James Wilson against Col. Beekman's charges of being AWOL for a week on a 24-hour pass, trying to retrieve a trunk of clothes and a horse. -- WILSON, James. Manuscript document signed ("Jas. Wilson"), n.d. 4 pages, folio . Wilson's defense to the same charges, with many of the same excuses: difficulty getting transport, menacing "negroes and whites" roaming the countryside; and a Mrs. Lewis, who seems to have been the source of most of the delay: "I then was obliged to stay [at her house] until the next morning...," etc. Mentions the evacuation of Beaumont and other aspects of the campaign. -- PICKERING, Timothy (1745-1829). ADS ("Timothy Pickering"), Philadelphia, 10 Aug. 1780. 1 p., 4to . An appointment, making Samuel Miles depouty quartermaster for Pennsylvania.

BURR, Aaron (1756-1836). ALS ("Aaron Burr") to William Ireson, Albany, 20 July 1791. 3 pp., folio, separated . If they are neither by Payne, Priestly, Towers or Loft, buy and send them to me. Buy also... Mackintosh's defense of the French Revolution against the accusations of Mr. Burke ." -- PORTER, David (1754-1808). ALS to Gov. Isaac Tichenor, New York, 15 December 1796. 3 pp., 4to . ON THE ELECTION OF 1796.
