REVOLUTIONARY WAR]. PULASKI, CASIMIR, Major General, Continental Army . Letter signed ("C. Pulaski") TO "HIS EXCELLENCY GENERAL WASHINGTON," n.p., 4 December 1777, 1 page, 8vo , neatly inlaid: "I have the Honor to acquaint your Excellency, that a Dragoon who I sent to convey an officer to a strange place, has this moment reported to me that Lieut. Zielinski having met Col. [Stephen] Moylan near Head Quarters some where some words passed between them after which Lieut. Zielinski struck Col. Moylan twice with a staff & dismounted him off his Horse. I send you the Dragoon who was witness to what passed..." -- PUTNAM, ISRAEL, Major General . Autograph letter signed to the Council of Safety in Philadelphia, Princeton, 9 April 1777, 1 page, folio, light stains , forwarding "seven prisoners...taken on the road going to Bordentown without our [s]entries. Jno. Smith a fellow who goes about begging, he carries news back & forwards. I would advise that he be kept in Confinement...100 of the Enemy were out, about 6 miles on the side of Brunswick. I not having a sufficient number of troops at this post, could not pretend to go down to attack them. They carried off a little Hay & Corn & pillaged from the Inhabitants...." -- WAYNE, ANTHONY, Major General . Autograph endorsement signed ("A True Bill Anthony Wayne, foreman") n.p., November 1775, 1 page, folio , endorsement on verso, as jury foreman, Wayne approves the verdict of the Grand Inquest, in a case of a labourer accused of taking "with force of arms...one silver watch..." -- STEUBEN, Baron, Major General. Document signed, constituting his order to the commanding officer of the militia of Richmond, Petersburg, [Virginia], 23 April 1781, 1 page, folio , instructing "the commanding officer" to "march with one half" of the militia "to the long bridge of the Chickahominy," and to send the other half...to Turkey Island...From the post at the long bridge patrols must be sent to Soan's bridge and from Turkey Island...and the road leading to Chickahominy in order to be apprised of any motion of the Enemy..."; together 4 items .
