[August 1892], excusing his lateness in writing, as he has been on an excursion in the islands, and reporting on his efforts to paint landscapes, 'I will only give you one the day I'm able to paint an interesting landscape. Renoir spent the summer of 1892 with his family on the Breton coast, visiting Pont Aven and the island of Noirmoutier, and ending up at Pornic, near Nantes.
