FINELY BOUND FOR ST VINCENT AND WITH FIVE PAGES OF MANUSCRIPT MUSIC , this attributed by Richard Jackson to Relfe; Jackson also attributes the binding to Roger Payne (c.1738-1797). Jervis, who was most probably presented this book in the year of the naval triumph that earned him his title, had long championed the cause of superannuated seamen. Richard Jackson is now best known as the model for Marius in Walter Pater’s Marius the Epicurean . Not in ESTC or WorldCat, which list only editions in 1789 and 1803.
