Rare six-gallon Pennsylvania stoneware crock, ca. 1875, impressedM. & T. Miller Newport, PA, with bold cobalt decoration of a bird perched on a leafy branch, 14 1/4" h., 13 1/2" dia. This is an outstanding example by one of Pennsylvania's most sought after potters. Few works by Miller of this caliber are known. Condition:1/2" glaze flake on edge of base. Probably a blown bubble or done in the making.
