Rare French Brass Musical Calendar Skeleton Clock. 5 in. porcelain dial with open center is signed "Chauveau, a Paris", has black hour numerals, open moon hands and 1.75 in. x 4 in. porcelain perpetual calendar dial above, displaying days and dates. The quality pierced brass 8 day spring driven skeleton movement has an inverted exposed pin pallet escapement with beat adjustment at the bottom, quality gridiron pendulum with brass covered bob hangs on a knife edge suspension in the back of the case; half hour rack strike mechanism strikes once on the half hour and strikes the hour on double bells at the top of the movement. A separate brass fusee spring driven cylinder music box mechanism is contained below the clock movement, it is engaged 15 minutes before the hour and plays a complex tune using 21 hammers striking on a nest of 13 bells. On a brass base with square glass box dome having brass corner straps and a single door on the front; clock is running and striking, musical mechanism is running. 21 in. high x 13 in. wide x 8.75 in. deep.
